Charleston County Economic Development (CCED) is proud to announce a record-breaking year for economic growth and opportunity. In 2024, CCED facilitated 15 impactful projects, creating 1,029 new jobs and generating $1.28 billion in capital investment across Charleston County.
A standout achievement this year was Boeing’s $1 billion investment—the largest single investment announcement in Charleston County’s history. This significant milestone reinforces the region’s position as a global leader in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
These projects underscore Charleston County’s continued prominence as a hub for innovation, industry, and economic opportunity. Companies across various sectors, including technology, logistics, manufacturing, and creative industries, chose to invest and expand within the region. The success of these initiatives demonstrates Charleston County’s unique combination of strategic location, skilled workforce, and business-friendly environment.

Steve Dykes, Charleston County Economic Development Executive Director, reflected on this landmark year as he prepares to conclude his 32-year career with CCED: “Ending my tenure with such historic accomplishments is deeply rewarding. A new economic impact study conducted by University of South Carolina Research Economist Dr. Joseph Von Nessen found that companies that have located and grown in Charleston County through Charleston County Economic Development's efforts now support 79,241 jobs and generate $26.2 billion in annual economic activity across the county.
