Elbit Systems of America, LLC establishing operations in Charleston County

Elbit Systems of America, LLC, a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., today announced plans to establish operations in Charleston County. The project will create approximately 300 new jobs.

Founded in 1983, Elbit Systems of America, LLC is a leading provider of high-performance products and system solutions focusing on the defense, homeland security, commercial aviation, and medical instrumentation sectors.

Located at 9028 Palmetto Commerce Parkway in North Charleston, S.C., Elbit Systems of America, LLC’s new facility will increase the company’s manufacturing capacity and support future growth for new products.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. Charleston County was also awarded a $700,000 Set-Aside grant to assist with costs related to this project.

Argents Air Express, Ltd. (Argents), a full-service logistics solutions company, today announced plans to expand operations in Charleston County. The expansion will create 35 new jobs.

Founded in 1977, Argents provides a full suite of import, export and domestic freight services. The company’s fulfillment and distribution teams assist in shipping thousands of orders every day to both retailers and consumers.

Located at 9015-N Sightline Drive in North Charleston, Argents’ expansion will increase the company’s fulfillment and distribution capabilities to service clients in the southeast.

The Home Depot expands supply chain operations across South Carolina

The Home Depot, Inc. (The Home Depot), a world-leading home improvement retailer, today announced plans to expand operations throughout South Carolina. The company is growing its supply chain and distribution operations in Charleston, Greenville, Jasper and Lexington counties. The combined expansion will create nearly 100 new jobs.

Founded in 1978, the company operates 2,300 The Home Depot retail stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Canada and Mexico.

The Home Depot’s expansion of existing South Carolina operations will increase the company’s distribution capabilities to meet growing demand and bring faster delivery to the region.

In Charleston County, The Home Depot is creating 31 new jobs at its distribution center located at 7791 Palmetto Commerce Parkway in North Charleston.

In Greenville County, the company will create 31 new jobs at the facility located at 74 Brookfield Oaks Drive in Mauldin. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $75,000 Set-Aside grant to Greenville County to assist with costs related to this portion of the project.

In Jasper County, The Home Depot will add a new distribution center, located at 10463 Speedway Boulevard in Hardeeville, creating 14 new jobs. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $100,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to Jasper County to assist with costs related to this portion of the project.

In Lexington County, the company will add an additional facility, located at 842 Bistline Drive in Cayce, and create 23 new jobs.

TELUS International establishing operations in Charleston County

TELUS International, a customer experience innovator that designs, builds and delivers digital solutions for global brands, today announced plans to establish operations in Charleston County. The $3.4 million initial investment will create approximately 1,200 new jobs by 2022.

TELUS International provides multilingual digital customer experience and digital IT solutions to clients all over the world. The company has over 56,000 team members, operates in more than 25 countries and partners with brands across high growth industry verticals, including technology and games, communications and media, eCommerce and fintech, healthcare and travel and hospitality. In the United States, TELUS International also has operations in Folsom, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Located at 3450 Ingleside Boulevard in North Charleston, TELUS International’s new facility will increase the company’s operating capacity to meet growing customer demand.

TELUS International Community Boards have provided $4 million in funding to grassroots charitable organizations since 2015. As part of the North Charleston site opening, TELUS International donated $10,000 to the Teachers’ Supply Closet, a nonprofit organization that provides supplies to educators in local schools where 73% of the students rely on meal programs.

Founded in 2011, Grey Ghost Bakery uses premium ingredients to create made-from-scratch, hand-formed cookies in flavors such as lemon sugar, molasses spice, chocolate espresso, chocolate bourbon and more.

Your Crawlspace, Inc. expanding operations in Charleston County

Your Crawlspace, Inc. (YCS), a patented crawlspace encapsulation manufacturing and distribution company, today announced plans to expand operations in Charleston County. The more than $3.6 million investment will create 40 new jobs over the next five years.

Headquartered in Charleston County, YCS is a family-owned company that creates vapor barrier systems that provide a damage-free seal throughout treated areas.

YCS’ expansion includes the purchasing and upfitting of a new facility at 1056 Hunley Sullivans Road in Awendaw to accommodate the company’s growth. The new facility will serve as a distribution facility space with additional office space.

Cummins Turbo Technologies expanding operations in Charleston County

Cummins Turbo Technologies, a business segment of global power leader Cummins Inc., today announced plans to expand turbocharger manufacturing operations in Charleston County. The more than $10.7 million investment will create 252 new jobs.

Founded in 1919, Cummins Inc. specializes in designing, manufacturing and distributing a broad portfolio of power solutions. The company’s products include diesel, natural gas, electric and hybrid powertrains and powertrain-related components.

Operating out of two locations on Palmetto Commerce Parkway in North Charleston, Cummins Turbo Technologies’ expansion will allow the company the flexibility to optimize its network between remanufactured and new turbocharger products; leverage manufacturing capabilities and capital in one geographic location; and improve cost competitiveness of both remanufactured and new turbos.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Charleston County a $500,000 Set-Aside grant for costs related to the project.

Charleston Coffee Roasters expanding operations in Charleston County

Charleston Coffee Roasters, a craft coffee roasting company, today announced plans to expand operations in Charleston County. The $2.2 million investment will create 28 new jobs.

Founded in 2005, Charleston Coffee Roasters sources premium coffees from around the world, slow-roasts each batch to perfection, and delivers a uniquely rich “Charleston” coffee experience in every cup.

Located at 7246 Stall Road in North Charleston, Charleston Coffee Roasters’ expansion will increase the company’s capacity to meet growing demand. The growth plan includes adding 21,600 square feet of production space to house new roasters, grinders, and packaging equipment.

New Airline, Breeze Airways, lands at Charleston International Airport with 11 new destinations

CHARLESTON, S.C. – America’s newest airline, Breeze Airways, today unveiled its debut network, comprising 39 nonstop routes between 16 cities in the Southwest, Midwest, Southeast and Eastern U.S. Charleston is among the airline’s first destinations and Charleston International Airport will receive Breeze’s inaugural flight on May 27.

The first flights will operate between Charleston, SC, Tampa, FL and Hartford, CT, with remaining destinations to be added each week through July 2021.

Breeze will operate 13 single-class Embraer aircraft this summer, flying routes with an average flight length under two hours.  The ten E190 jets will be configured to seat 108 Guests while the three E195 aircraft will have 118 seats.  Breeze also has ordered 60 brand new Airbus A220 aircraft that will be delivered one per month for five years, starting in October this year.

Bourne Group expanding operations in Charleston County

Bourne Group, an industry leader in the manufacturing and installation of marine signage, today announced plans to expand operations in Charleston County. The $3.7 million investment will create 43 new jobs.

Founded in 2007, Bourne Group has built a portfolio ranging from maritime safety signs to full-service capabilities for the cruise and commerce shipping industries. With its U.S. headquarters based in Charleston, Bourne Group also has an international presence in the Netherlands.

Moving to a new facility located at 301 Ports Authority Drive in Mount Pleasant, Bourne Group’s expansion will house operations for leading-edge printing, digital cutting, CNC routing, as well as logistics project management, sales and design.
