BoomTown expanding Charleston County operations

BoomTown, a real estate software development company, is expanding their existing Charleston County operations. With an expected joint capital investment of approximately $20.7 million, the company plans to make additional hires to accommodate their continued growth.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Charleston, S.C., BoomTown is a software development company that offers a robust sales and marketing system for real estate professionals. The system includes a customized real estate website integrated with local MLS data, personalized online advertising, client success management, and a cutting-edge CRM (Customer Relationship Management System) with marketing automation. The BoomTown platform is used by over 20,000 of the top-producing real estate brokerages across the US and Canada.

Located at 1505 King Street in Charleston, S.C., the company’s new 50,000 sq. ft. headquarters is another urban renewal project by Stephen Zoukis and Michael Wooddy of the Raven Cliff Company. Fitness First USA Locates in Charleston region

The Charleston region’s life sciences/pharmaceuticals sector has added a new player, Fitness First USA, a division of parent company, A&Z Pharmaceutical, Inc. Fitness First USA is a 20-year old brand originally established in Portsmouth, NH. A&Z Pharma will be relocating the business into Charleston County and expanding its operation with a flagship retail and e-commerce distribution facility in Mount Pleasant at 547 Long Point Road, Suite 102. The public grand opening event is Saturday, June 3.

The company’s initial first year investment is $600,000 and the hiring of 10 new jobs. Additional local growth and investment is anticipated. The company considered expanding in New York City, before deciding to locate its Flagship store in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Fitness First USA is a one stop Health and Wellness Center with a retail store offering vitamins, supplements, fitness products, digestion aids & superfoods, holistic products, personal care items, children’s products, healthy food, snacks & drinks, accessories, and apparel. The education center will offer yoga classes, personal training and wellness seminars (focused on a range of topics from nutrition to meditation), and a Tasting Bar with smoothies/juices using supplements sold in store. The company is developing partnerships with both the local health & wellness and military community. For the past 20 years, Fitness First products have been shipped worldwide. One of its largest customer bases is U.S. troops deployed and stationed abroad.

Fitness First is the second company to locate here as part of South Carolina Department Commerce’s and the Charleston Regional Development Alliance’s Landing Pad program, which is designed to help established companies enter this market for the first time. Alcami Corporation growing operations in Charleston County

Alcami Corporation, a leading provider of custom development and manufacturing services for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, today announced an investment of at least $5 million in the expansion of its existing Charleston County operations. This project is expected to lead to the creation of at least 30 new jobs.

Alcami offers a variety of biopharmaceutical services across active pharmaceutical ingredients, drug products (sterile, oral solid dose, packaging and labeling), development services and analytical testing. With six state-of-the-art locations in the United States and a seventh in the Netherlands, the company has supported more than 500 Investigational New Drug (IND) filings over the past 30 years.

Located at 4221 Faber Place Drive in North Charleston, S.C., Alcami will continue to expand its filling and freeze-drying capabilities. The site has recently produced clinical supply from its recently-qualified second line and doubled both its filling capacity and freeze-drying capacity with increased scheduling flexibility, including a third operating shift. Mid-States Packaging launching new operations in Charleston County

Mid-States Packaging, Inc., a full-service logistics and warehousing provider, is locating new operations in Charleston County. The $5.2 million investment is expected to bring 30 new jobs to the community.

Mid-States Packaging was established in 2001 by Tracy Giroux-Harpin and Charles Giroux, a family that has been in the transportation industry for more than four generations. Offering a range of services such as transportation, logistics, packaging, warehousing, rail service, containers and sea bulk, Mid-States Packaging provides services to meet all supply chain requirements for its customers.

To establish operations in Charleston County, Mid-States Packaging will be locating its manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations on a two-building, multi-tenant site at 4500 Goer Drive in North Charleston, S.C. NCGS, Inc. expanding its Charleston County presence

NCGS, Inc., a clinical research organization (CRO) supporting the pharmaceutical industry, is expanding its Charleston County operations. The company is constructing a new corporate headquarters, which will bring $10 million of new capital investment and create 80 new jobs.

Founded in 1984, NCGS is a privately-held, international, full-service CRO which specializes in conducting and managing clinical trials. Focusing on complex areas of clinical development, such as oncology, infectious diseases and critical care, NCGS has worked on the approval or expanded approval of 34 drug, biologic and diagnostic products.

Currently located at 288 Meeting Street in Charleston, S.C., the company will be moving into a new corporate headquarters after completing renovations in the spring of 2017. The new headquarters will be located at 16 Charlotte Street in Charleston, S.C. Shimano expanding Charleston County presence

Shimano Inc., a multinational manufacturer of products for the bicycle and sports fishing industries, is expanding its existing Charleston County operations. To accommodate its continued growth, the company will be creating more than 30 new positions.

Established in 1921 and headquartered in Japan, Shimano specializes in the development, production and distribution of bicycle components, fishing tackle, lifestyle gear and rowing equipment. With more than 11,000 employees, Shimano has 53 consolidated subsidiaries around the world. The company first opened its Charleston County distribution center in 2002 and expanded it in 2012.

Located at 9560 Palmetto Commerce Parkway in Ladson, S.C., Shimano has now added a 22,000-square-foot office building to its existing operations. The new facility is complete with a customer experience center where its fishing division will be able to connect directly with the market. PhishLabs expanding into new headquarters in Charleston County

PhishLabs, a leading provider of cybersecurity services, is expanding its existing operations in Charleston County. To accommodate its continued growth, the company is expecting to create 45 new jobs over the next three years.

Founded in 2008, PhishLabs fights back against phishing attacks – the primary source of data breaches and online fraud. Carver Companies expanding its Charleston County operations

Carver Companies, a diversified group of manufacturing and construction companies, will be expanding its Charleston County operations. Located in North Charleston, S.C., the expansion is expected to bring $13 million of new capital investment and lead to the creation of 22 new jobs.

Founded in 1989, Carver Construction was the first in the family of Carver Companies, originating as a single crew digging small projects and expanding to offer a variety of developmental site work. Carver Companies also includes Canaday Sweepers Property Management, Carver Sand and Gravel, Coeymans Industrial Park, Port of Coeymans and Coeymans Marine Towing (CMT), all of which are based in New York. Through CMT, the company owns and operates eight tug boats and 30 barges, which are used to service clients’ needs.
