Finalcontrol, Inc. launching new operations in Charleston County

Finalcontrol, Inc., a quality assurance provider for manufacturing companies, is locating new operations in Charleston County. The project is expected to create 34 new jobs over the next year.

Providing control services and quality assurance for manufacturing companies that need assistance validating processes, Finalcontrol offers inspection of small and large series, as well as initial samples and pre-production parts. The company supports customers in the automotive, electronic, ceramic, molded plastic and medical device industries.

To properly navigate the economic development process in South Carolina, Finalcontrol has participated in the state’s Landing Pad program, which aims to assist established companies looking to enter the U.S. or South Carolina markets for the first time. A collaborative effort between the S.C. Department of Commerce and the state’s regional economic development alliances, the program assists companies with a variety of issues and services, including regulation, taxation and translation, as well as finding suitable office space.

AHT Cooling Systems USA, Inc. expanding operations in Charleston County

AHT Cooling Systems USA, Inc., a provider of custom refrigerated and frozen merchandising solutions, is expanding its existing Charleston County facility by adding assembly and distribution operations. The project will result in more than $5 million in capital investment and lead to the creation of more than 70 new jobs.

With more than 30 years of experience, AHT Cooling Systems services the grocery and small format retail markets with manufacturing sites in Austria, China and Brazil. To establish its first production site in the U.S., the company is upfitting its Charleston County operations with a production business unit for the assembly of commercial refrigeration and freezing equipment.

Located at 7058 Weber Boulevard in Ladson, S.C., the facility’s new manufacturing operations will support management and logistics operations already in place. With the project anticipated for completion by the end of the year, hiring for the new positions is already underway.

Coast Brewing, LLC is expanding its operations in Charleston County

Coast Brewing, LLC, a family-owned craft brewery based in Charleston, S.C., is expanding its existing operations. With a capital investment of $1.7 million, the company is expected to create 29 new jobs.

Currently, Coast Brewing produces 4,000 barrels per year for distribution primarily in the Charleston region. This expansion will increase production to more than 7,000 barrels per year, further growing the company’s sales market and allowing for the construction of a taproom and full kitchen.

Located at 1250 North Second Street in North Charleston, S.C., the company will be purchasing its existing leased building and expanding onto adjacent land. To accommodate this growth, Coast Brewing, LLC will be hiring an additional 29 employees, including managerial, technical and taproom positions.

AGRU America, Inc. opening Charleston County operations

AGRU America, Inc., a manufacturer of premium geosynthetic liners and thermoplastic piping solutions, is adding Charleston County to its South Carolina footprint with a new $30 million facility.

Since 1988, the Georgetown, SC–based AGRU America has been the world’s leading manufacturer of flat-die extrusion geomembranes, geonets, geocomposites, geotextiles, geosynthetic clay liners, concrete protective liners, and fittings. AGRU America now employs more than 200 people at facilities in Georgetown, Andrews, Charleston, and Fernley, Nevada.

Located off Greenleaf Road, the waterfront plant allows direct loading of the large diameter PE pipes into the Cooper River to export to eight countries around the globe. For the production of the large diameter piping systems, AGRU uses PE 100 or PE4710 resins allowing for better long-term hydraulic properties, saving operation costs, and providing high resistance to corrosion, wear and tear, and UV radiation.

Mission Solutions Group, Inc. expanding operations in Charleston County

Mission Solutions Group, a privately-held, Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB), is expanding its existing Charleston County operations. The firm is expected to invest $2.9 million and create 41 new jobs

Established in 2015, Mission Solutions Group is a family of premier companies providing dedicated mission critical support in the communications, cyber-security and sustainment verticals to support the U.S. military. It currently manages four businesses, including: Marshall Communications Corp., a satellite communications and IT sales business; Sidecar Enterprises, Inc., a spare parts and logistics business; BlueJay Products, a diesel exhaust fluid manufacturer; and, Morgan-6, a software services provider.

With this investment, the company intends to locate its corporate headquarters and operational organizations to a facility at 6655 Jet Park Drive in North Charleston, S.C. Ingredion expanding operations in Charleston County

Ingredion Incorporated, a leading global ingredients solutions company, is expanding its existing operations in Charleston County. The company’s growth is expected to bring more than $10 million of capital investment and lead to the creation of five new positions.

Serving customers in more than 100 countries, Ingredion turns grains, fruits, vegetables and other plant materials into value-added ingredients and biomaterial solutions for a variety of industries. Located in Charleston since 1988, Ingredion is a Fortune 500 company with $5.7 billion in sales in 2016.

Located at 7680 Southrail Road in North Charleston, S.C., this expansion will permit Ingredion to double its exports out of the Port of Charleston.

Knapheide Truck Equipment Company opening new facility in Charleston County

Knapheide Truck Equipment Company Charleston Inc., a subsidiary of The Knapheide Manufacturing Company, is opening a new manufacturing facility in Charleston County. The development is projected to bring $1.3 million of investment and create 63 new jobs.

Since 1848, Knapheide has provided its customers with high-quality, work-ready transportation solutions. Headquartered in Quincy, Ill., the Knapheide family has owned and operated the company since its inception. Today, Knapheide is a leading manufacturer and provider of vocational commercial vehicle solutions.

Knapheide will be locating its new operations in a 75,000-square-foot facility located at 8449 Palmetto Commerce Parkway in North Charleston, S.C. Designed to upfit the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Metris vans, the company will be providing and installing van interiors, service bodies, utility bodies, platform bodies and more. T-Mobile US investing in new Charleston County operations

T-Mobile US, one of the largest wireless service providers in the United States, is moving its existing customer care center in the Charleston area to a new, larger facility in North Charleston. The company is expected to invest more than $16.7 million in the new facility, creating 400 new jobs.

T-Mobile is redefining the way consumers and businesses buy wireless services through leading product and service innovation. With its advanced 4G LTE network, the company provides wireless service to 72.6 million customers across the nation through its T-Mobile and MetroPCS flagship brands. T-Mobile customer care centers, like the one in Charleston County, help address customer concerns while delivering world-class service.

T-Mobile expects to move 800 employees, who currently work at its Daniel Island location as customer service representatives, managers, supervisors and staff, to its new location in North Charleston, S.C. Expected to be operational during the first quarter of 2018, the new facility will allow the company to create 400 additional jobs. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a grant to Charleston County to assist with the costs of building upfit.

Protego expanding operations in Charleston County

Protego, a global manufacturer of tank and flammable vapor processing safety equipment, is expanding its South Carolina presence by establishing a new facility in North Charleston, S.C. The new development is projected to bring $3.7 million of capital investment and lead to the creation of 17 jobs.

With more than 60 years of innovation and experience, Protego manufactures a variety of explosion protection and tank safety equipment, such as flame and detonation arresters, low-pressure tank vents, tank equipment and more.
