SC Works Trident System

Through the SC Works Trident System, employers can access state and local resources to recruit qualified employees from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. The SC Works Centers also can assist with employer training programs and business retention and expansion efforts. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WOIA) was enacted in 2014 and is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market, and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. WIOA is a federal program administered in South Carolina through the Department of Employment and Workforce and SC Works Trident System.

Employee retraining funds

Employees retraining funds are a discretionary incentive administered by the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development available to manufacturing, processing and technology intensive companies. These funds are used to retrain existing production and technology employees so that the company may remain competitive or introduce new technologies. The training program must be approved and run by our local technical college and companies must match the retraining funds provided by the Coordinating Council for Economic Development. This program allows for reimbursement up to $500 per employee per year, not to exceed $2,000 per employee in a five-year period. Learn more.
