Diverse and Compelling Education Programs

Charleston County offers a diverse and compelling array of innovative public and private schools and educational programs addressing the needs of students with every interest.  Superintendent Dr. Gerrita Postlewait’s goal is to work with educators, students, parents and community partners to dramatically increase the percentage of students and productively into careers, college and life.

These local educator’s efforts are augmented by The Education Foundation, a mature public-private partnership building bridges of collaboration between local school administrators, teachers, students and the business community since 1995. More than $24,000 in teacher grants were awarded for the 2016/2017 school year.

Charleston County High Achieving School Options

Charleston County School District offers a diverse expanding portfolio of options – including neighborhood, charter, magnet, international baccalaureate, and Montessori schools – and is divided into elementary, and early, middle, and secondary Learning Communities, each led by an associate superintendent.

Charleston County additionally has more than 25 private schools, serving more than 6,000 students.

 

TriCounty STEMersion

  • Tri-County STEMersion is a two-week, unique hands-on institute for middle and high school instructors in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties in South Carolina.
