We are the first U.S. port of call for post-Panamax vessels, offering industry-leading crane productivity and rapid turnaround times that keep your supply chain moving. The SCPA has set an ambitious goal of increasing the capacity of the Port of Charleston to 10 million twenty-foot equivalent units in the not-too-distant future. 03 / Rail Systems

Charleston County utilizes a robust dual-rail system served by both CSX and Norfolk Southern. Supported by Palmetto Railways, these lines provide seamless intermodal transfer from the port terminals to the rest of the North American manufacturing grid.

04 / Interstate Network

Our strategic location puts your business within a one-day truck drive of two-thirds of the U.S. and Canadian population. I-26 begins in Charleston and connects directly to I-95 (the East Coast’s main artery) and I-77, ensuring easy access to rapid distribution.

Competitive Advantage

Optimized Supply Chains for Global Business

In today’s global economy, time is the ultimate metric of accessibility. Charleston County transforms multimodal infrastructure into a competitive speed advantage. Supported by a $550 million investment from the State of South Carolina, the Navy Base Intermodal Facility will revolutionize near-port rail service at the Port of Charleston. With over 72,000 feet of track already installed, this project will connect Charleston to the inland ports of South Carolina and key markets throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
