Coast Brewing, LLC is expanding its operations in Charleston County

Coast Brewing, LLC, a family-owned craft brewery based in Charleston, S.C., is expanding its existing operations. With a capital investment of $1.7 million, the company is expected to create 29 new jobs.

Currently, Coast Brewing produces 4,000 barrels per year for distribution primarily in the Charleston region. This expansion will increase production to more than 7,000 barrels per year, further growing the company’s sales market and allowing for the construction of a taproom and full kitchen.

Located at 1250 North Second Street in North Charleston, S.C., the company will be purchasing its existing leased building and expanding onto adjacent land. To accommodate this growth, Coast Brewing, LLC will be hiring an additional 29 employees, including managerial, technical and taproom positions.

Hiring for the new positions is projected to begin in the second quarter of 2018. For more information on Coast Brewing, visit www.coastbrewing.com.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to purchase our property, expand production and add a long overdue taproom for public gathering. We believe in grassroots, sustainable growth; and, as Coast turns 10 this year, it is finally time for the next step. Without the changes in beer laws in 2007, and hopefully continuing into the future, none of this would have been possible.” –Coast Brewing, LLC Owners David Merritt and Jaime Tenny

“Across South Carolina, businesses of all types are thriving, and today’s announcement by Coast Brewing, LLC is a testament to that. We congratulate this family-owned company and look forward to watching them continue to grow in South Carolina for years to come.” –Gov. Henry McMaster

“Time and time again, South Carolina has shown that it is the right place for companies to do business, especially those that seek to efficiently distribute products to market. The Palmetto State has a robust infrastructure network and unmatched logistics assets, and today’s announcement by Coast Brewing is proof that these assets continue to pay off.” –Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt

“Coast Brewing Company is celebrating 10 years of commercial brewing success, further proving their impact on our area. They are good community neighbors and we congratulate them on this expansion.” –Charleston County Council Chairman Victor Rawl

“A thriving craft beer scene in a community becomes an economic driver, creating jobs, boosting tourism and attracting professionals and entrepreneurs. Coast Brewing Company was the first Lowcountry brewery in the modern craft beer era, and they have led the way for countless other operations within our region. The industry’s local success can be attributed to Coast, and we are glad to see their expansion within the City of North Charleston.” –North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey
